About Warriors with Wings
Warriors with Wings is a nonprofit that introduces children and young adults to the freedom of flight while they battle cancer. That starts with intro flights for the kids they call Warrior Pilots, and they’re working to put flight simulators in hospitals too.
The flying community is full of people who want to share aviation and lend a hand, and Warriors with Wings puts them to work for these kids. It’s also a platform for pediatric cancer awareness, a cause that receives less than 4% of the federal cancer research budget.
Ryan’s story
Warriors with Wings was started by Ryan Melendez. Ryan beat cancer, then went after an airline career, which is a long road for anyone and a much longer one after cancer. Today he’s an airline pilot.

Why it matters to us
Childhood cancer has been part of our family’s story for a long time. Our cousin, also named Ryan, was diagnosed at three and fought cancer through his childhood and teenage years before we lost him.
We met Ryan Melendez a couple of years ago. About a year ago we found out he and our cousin had known each other, and that they were close. That makes us even prouder to back what Ryan is building.
